Yruretagoyena assesses new commits
The Oregon Ducks are filling up the offensive side of the ball for the class of 2011. First it was quarterbacks, with Jerrard Randall, Johnny Manziel and Marcus Mariota all pulling the trigger early, the latter two following strong performances at the Oregon coaches' camp. The first to give his commitment to protect Oregon's future signal-callers was Scottsdale, Arizona's Andre Yruretagoyena, who made his call at the end of June. The Rivals four-star prospect projects as an offensive guard.
With July came two more offensive line commitments for the Ducks, Beaverton's James Euscher and Chandler, Arizona's Tyler Johnstone, both of whom will likely start their careers in Eugene at tackle. Duck Sports Authority caught up with Yruretagoyena to get an update on his summer and his thoughts on the two newest Duck pledges.
"Tyler and I go way back," began the nation's 11th rated offensive lineman. "He was one of my first friends from what I can remember. We lived in the small town of Vancouver, Washington and he was in my kindergarten class. We ended up playing soccer on the same team for years and became really close friends while we were there. I ended up moving to Arizona due to the divorce and I never saw Tyler until a few months ago at U of A's Junior Day. It was so weird because we hadn't seen each other for years. We were always bigger than everyone and we'd always compete in school, it was funny. But other than that I know he's a great player, and a good kid. He's smart and very athletic. I know we both will get along great together when we move up to Eugene."
