Tigers will host top ten talent
Many of the top prospects in the 2011 basketball class will be making official visits over the next few weeks. But it is a 2012 prospect who will be at Missouri on an unofficial trip this weekend. Memphis forward Jarnell Stokes plans to arrive in Columbia early Saturday morning to check out Mizzou.
The number nine overall prospect in the Class of 2012, Stokes has been rumored to be leaning heavily toward the hometown Memphis Tigers. But the 6-foot-7 junior disputes those claims.
Stokes has more than a year before he is even allowed to sign a National Letter of Intent, so certainly things can change over the course of time. In fact, the trip to Columbia is the only visit Stokes has planned for this fall.
Stokes says he isn't close to making a decision, but he will be taking a close look at Mizzou with his high school teammate Andre Applewhite, who has offers from Middle Tennessee and Missouri State, along with interest from the likes of Missouri, Auburn and Marquette.
