InsideTulsaSports.com Although the defensive line at the University of Tulsa took a hit during fall camp with the departure of Chadd Evans, the group is still very strong and has added depth through the emergence of young talent and a senior that converted from linebacker. Defensive Coordinator Keith Patterson has the horses for a four-man front, but says the Hurricane will still base out of the odd-stack formation.
"Up front, we probably have more depth than we've ever had to this particular point," Patterson described. "We'll definitely base out of a three-three (odd-stack). Our kids just have a comfort zone in the three-three. We've spent three years developing it, and we're just now understanding the strengths and weaknesses of that front."
"We'll play some four-man fronts, but primarily, we'll base out of that three-man front."
