Mesa College WR bound for Portland State?

Derick Barkum established himself as one of the top Junior College wide receivers in the Golden State last fall. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder from San Diego (Calif.) Mesa College hauled in more than 35 receptions for 750 yards and eight touchdowns. He was named his team's MVP.

Barkum is not a mid-year transfer, so he has not seen his recruiting stock take off. But Portland State and Weber State have stepped up with a scholarship offer.
