College coaches flocking to see Jeff Taylor
Hobbs, New Mexico is long on high school basketball history under legendary coach Ralph Tasker. In the fall of 2006, Hobbs received a big time move-in forward in Jeff Taylor of Sweden. Taylor, whose father Jeff Taylor Sr. played at Hobbs and Texas Tech in the 1980s, came to Hobbs with plenty of national team experience playing for various Swedish teams and caught on fast to the more physical American game.
All Taylor did in his first season at Hobbs was break the all-time scoring record, averaging 28.6 points and a total of 858 for a new record.
Taylor says he is open to all, but some schools are recruiting the 6-foot-6 small forward harder than others. Schools involved in his recruitment include Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Kentucky, Florida, Kansas, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Arizona State, New Mexico and New Mexico State.
