Top QB prospect has Horns on top
The calendar is still several months away from when the Texas Longhorn coaching staff will begin to dive into the 2009 recruiting class, but there are a handful of top prospects that have already landed on UT's recruiting radar.
One of the biggest need positions for Texas will be at quarterback, where the state boasts perhaps the deepest group of signal callers that it has produced in the last decade. Names like Russell Shepard and Garrett Gilbert have dominated most of the early water cooler talk, but there are some other very intriguing prospects, and one player worth keeping an eye on is Brownwood's Casey Pachall. The dual-threat quarterback is regarded as one of the state's top overall prospects - he's ranked No. 13 on the Lone Star Recruiting list - and he's already garnering attention from several programs.
Texas, Oklahoma, Houston, Florida and Alabama, Stanford and Oklahoma State are among the schools that have expressed an interest in the 6-foot-4, 187-pounder, and Pachall has already set up a very early top five, although he admits that it is a very fluid list.
