Powered Up: Two will lead the way
Exactly halfway through the season, the Missouri Tigers are exactly where most observers expected them to be. Yes, some had the Tigers tripping up in the non-conference season or losing to Nebraska (how'd that one work out?), but for the most part, Missouri was expected to be 5-and-1 at this point.
They are, and that's good. But the question now is, what has Missouri really proven?
To those of us who have seen all the games, they've proven a pretty good amount. They have proven they are potentially as good as the pre-season hype. They've proven they are the best team in the Big 12 North and should be favored to win it.
To many, though, the Tigers have proven absolutely nothing. Like it or not, there are a lot of people waiting for the collapse. It happened in 2003 when, after a 4-and-0 start, the Tigers lost five of their last nine games. It happened again in 2005 when a 5-and-2 Tiger team dropped three of its next four. In 2006, most memorably, a 6-and-0 start was followed by five losses in seven games.
