Frogs nab star QB
Coach Patterson has made it clear to anyone that's paying attention. He's still here and he's here to stay. He's also here to win and when I say win, I mean win big. As a new multimillion dollar indoor practice facility rose from the grounds of the TCU campus there was a feeling that the Frogs were taking that next step, the step that would see them compete for something bigger than bowl wins.
They can now see themselves battling for National Championships and the entire program is focused on greatness. Now enter the quarterback of the future, Casey Pachall. Pachall (6'4"185) out of Brownwood brings instant star power to the Horned Frog offense. Rated as one of the top players in the talent rich state of Texas, Pachall fits very well with the direction the team has decided to go in on the offensive side of the ball.
With a gunslinger mentality and plenty of speed to evade the pass rush and create on the fly, Pachall gives the Frogs a field general that will command every opponents attention. So what made the Brownwood High star decide to head to Ft. Worth?
"I just had a great feeling about TCU." he said. "Each time I would start to consider another school, I came back to TCU. I just like everything about them. I liked the other schools too but there was something different about TCU."
With offers in hand from schools such as Notre Dame, Nebraska, Arizona, Baylor, Houston and heavy interest from OU, Pachall is a wanted man. So how firm is his pledge to the Frogs?
"I'm 100-percent solid. I'm done, I won't back out. I keep my word and I like everything about TCU so I'm shutting down the recruiting process. Even if other schools try to offer later on, I'm finished."
With the assurance that he is here to stay, Pachall can now prepare for his senior year with the utmost focus and preparation. That doesn't mean that he won't do a little recruiting for the Frogs.
"I haven't had a chance to talk to Stavion Lowe yet but I plan on it. I've been playing baseball but I intend on talking to him about it pretty soon. I also plan on talking to some other guys to try and get them to come play at TCU, I want to do a little recruiting. I look forward to meeting other guys that are being recruited by TCU so that I can talk to them."
Along with his recruiting efforts, Pachall has set some rather lofty goals that he would like to attain his senior year.
"I want to win a state championship and just make the team the best it can be. I want to throw for 3,000 yards and I want to run for 700 yards. Those are the main things I'm focusing on."
TCU fans have to be thrilled that their Frogs landed such a talented prospect and the best part may be yet to come. With the commitment of such a highly touted prospect, the Frogs are hoping for a landslide affect on the rest of the class. With a new, more explosive offense in the works, skill players will be flocking to campus in the very near future. There is no doubt that other top flight players will want to fall in line with the Brownwood phenom and continue to build the offensive arsenal of the Frogs. Pachall has given an already stellar class a huge boost and though the full affect of his commitment is not yet known, the vibe around Ft. worth is a very good one indeed.
"I just want all of the fans to know that there won't be any dull moments for TCU, the Frogs have a very big future and I'm excited to be a part of it."
