Jacobs set for visit to Wake
Wake Forest will entertain Santa Clarita (Calif.) Golden Valley outside linebacker Leon Jacobs for an official visit Jan. 16-18.
Jacobs, who de-committed from Fresno State, is still considering the Bulldogs, but the Demon Deacons have also caught his attention.
"I didn't want to rush into anything," Jacobs said.
The Demon Deacons began showing interest in him in October.
Derrick Jackson and Brian Knorr are recruiting Jacobs for the Demon Deacons.
"It's nice," Jacobs said. "We [Jackson, Knorr and I] have a very good relationship. They [Wake's coaches] just want a player who has good character and is self-motivated to get better once I step on their campus. I'm a hard worker. Wherever I go I'll try to be the best player I can possibly be."
"I would be like Justin Jackson rushing the quarterback, [and] sometimes jumping into coverage [if I go to Wake]."
Jacobs said Fresno State and Wake are on equal footing, and that he will talk with his parents following his trip to Winston-Salem.
The 6-foot-3 and 217-pound California product added a school's proximity will not impact his recruitment.
"I'm looking for academics and a good football school where I can improve on my skills," Jacobs said.
Jacobs is not considering any other schools outside of Fresno State and Wake Forest. He is not have a timetable set for his decision, but thinks he will have a better idea after this weekend.
He rushed for 850 yards and six touchdowns, and recorded 37 tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown this season.
"My strengths are I'm very fast, and I can attack the quarterback," Jacobs said. "I'm athletic. I like to get after it. I go hard for the whole play."
Jacobs will be rooming with during Ali Lamot during his official visit to Wake Forest.
"We spoke a little bit over Facebook," Jacobs said.
Jacobs added Lamot is someone he can imagine himself playing with at the collegiate level.
