The Rivals.com network and its UCLA site are eager to announce several big and exciting changes. First and foremost, we would like to thank Rick Kimbrel for all of the hard work he’s put in for many years at UCLA. The news he broke, the features he wrote and the events he covered were invaluable to this site and Rivals.com, and we are all beyond thankful to have had him serve as the publisher of this site for so long.|
But, effective today, we are thrilled to announce that Edward Lewis has accepted the offer to take over as publisher of UCLA’s Rivals.com site, and we are very excited about the skill set he brings to the table.
Lewis, 23, has been covering sports ranging from college basketball to the NFL for more than five years. He wrote for the Dallas Cowboys for two seasons; freelanced for San Diego’s two largest newspapers, The San Diego Union-Tribune and the North County Times, for nearly three years; was an on-air talent for the Mountain West Conference’s TV network, The Mtn.; and most recently covered San Diego State football, basketball and recruiting as the publisher of SDSU’s Rivals.com site, AztecSportsReport.com.
He knows the recruiting landscape of both football and basketball very well, and his knowledge of both the high school game and the NCAA will make him a tremendous asset to this site and Rivals.com.
“Words cannot describe how thankful and blessed I feel to be in this position to take over this wonderful site and cover UCLA,” Lewis said. “The tradition, the athletes, the coaching staffs, the recruits, the uniforms, the fans, the mystique ? all of it is second-to-none in collegiate athletics.
“This opportunity is one that I certainly will not waste. I promise you I will devote 100 percent of my time, effort and energy to this site and to all of you that read and subscribe. This job will be my entire life, and I guarantee you there will be no off days for me on here.
“I’m looking forward to breaking news, posting articles, recording videos, and most importantly, interacting with all of you right here on this message board. I absolutely cannot wait to get all of this started.”
At this time, we’d like to introduce you to the new UCLA Rivals.com site: BruinSportsReport.com.
In addition to the hiring of Lewis, we are very excited to announce the revamping of this site, starting with the name: BruinSportsReport.com.
BSR will be your one-stop shop for everything Bruins. In addition to the already-great UCLA football and football recruiting news this site has brought you for many years, BSR will also provide you with in-depth coverage of the Bruins basketball team and its recruits. We also intend to provide you with HD video of player highlights, interviews, press conferences and much, much more. If there’s any piece of news out there about UCLA football, basketball, recruiting and even baseball, you can expect to read about it here first on BruinSportsReport.com.
We would also like to take this time to announce the changing of the message boards here on BSR.
Bruin Tracks will be the place on this site to track recruits, grab breaking UCLA news, interact with fellow subscribers and communicate with Edward Lewis and the BSR staff.
The Bruins Den will be a free message board where fans from all over the globe can come and chat about the Bruins.
Finally, The Bruin Bite will be a place to read our weekly “War Room” feature - a compilation of all kinds of UCLA sports notes that we’ve gathered throughout the week.
John Talman, head of team sites for Rivals.com, left us with his thoughts about the changes.
“As someone who has known Rick Kimbrel for many years, he is truly not only a highly experienced professional that has covered recruiting longer than most, but is a fantastic person as well,” Talman said. “He has made a big impact covering UCLA for Rivals.com and with those he’s interacted in and outside our network.
“Having been a publisher for close to five years, and starting that exciting time also following in someone’s experienced footsteps, I can say with confidence that we are truly lucky and excited to have Edward Lewis here as the new publisher of BruinSportsReport.com. The one thing I know as a publisher that you must have is not just great ability and resources, but most importantly the desire to work night and day to give subscribers what they expect and more. Edward will give you 100 percent every day and make sure that every subscriber is satisfied with their experience. I have no doubts about that. Having worked with and discussed Edward’s long-term plans for the site, I’m supremely confident that you will truly enjoy his content, but also his drive, work ethic and desire to bring you the best UCLA content out there.”
So welcome to the new BruinSportsReport.com. Enjoy the site and all of its new features, and don’t hesitate to contact Edward Lewis at EdwardFLewis@yahoo.com with any comments, questions or concerns.
