First day in pads a hit
The third practice and the first one in pads was testy, but controlled. The intensity and the energy remained good. For the third straight day fans for the most part liked what they saw. Is it the finished product? No, not by a long shot, but it is getting there. There is good competition at almost every position.
Datone Jones looks like the light is turning on for him. If he continues to improve at this pace, he's going to have a monster season. He beasted Derrick Coleman on the first play on the 11-on-11 drill and Justin Edison had his jersey torn apart. That means, Edison was giving somebody a case of the holding fits.
Stanley Hasiak was looking solid at guard and even had his hat ripped off his head. He remained poised and calm and then went back to work.
Wide receiver looks to be a position of strength this season as redshirt freshman Ricky Marvray continues to impress. Even on an interception his tackle on Stan McKay was one of the loudest of the day.
Then on the very next play, Marvray ran an outstanding route and Richard Brehaut, who also had a nice day, hit Marvray in stride for a completion.
