Metoyer Puts Rumors to Rest

It's been a whirlwind week for Whitehouse, Texas wide receiver Trey Metoyer.

As of this time last week the 6-foot-2, 198-pound receiver was supposed to head to Norman for last Sunday's junior day. However due to travel problems and a few communication snafus the trip was never made. In fact Metoyer was actually in Oxford, Miss. seeing just what Houston Nutt's Rebels had to show him.

Upon returning from his trip to Oxford rumors began to swirl about Metoyer's decision and even how the trip had played out. On report went so far as to discuss a falling out between Oklahoma and the possible four-star prospect.

On Friday at noon Metoyer proved just how erroneous the rumor, among others, had been.

"Obviously, he and the staff were disappointed at first but he also knew I wanted to see another campus, see what others have so I can compare," Metoyer continued, "Those who know me know I'm not going to play mind games, I wasn't doing that at all. I was trying to get another view of a program that had also shown me a lot of legitimate interest and although I enjoyed my time at Ole Miss, I knew OU was still my favorite."

In fact much of the hyperbole that surrounded his decision was a big part of ending his recruitment before it became any more chaotic for himself, as well as his family.

"I wanted to go through the entire process, but I started feeling a great deal of pressure-not really from any of the colleges who offered, but from me not wanting to lead anyone on; I always liked Oklahoma, but I wanted to look at other programs and campuses too and enjoy the opportunities." the skilled receiver said. "I always knew Oklahoma was where I wanted to go and that's not going to change, so now I can focus on school, my upcoming SAT, the off-season workouts, spring drills, and really just enjoy the summer before my senior year."
