Randall sets official visit

The Oregon Ducks look to be reloading in a major way at quarterback for the Class of 2011. The first to commit was Hollywood (Fla.) gunslinger Jerrard Randall who announced his intentions three weeks ago. In the last week, Johnny Manziel from Texas and Marcus Mariota from Hawaii added their pledges to the list.

For Randall to make his commitment final with the Oregon staff, he needs to visit the campus. Originally the plan was for an early summer trip to Eugene.

"I'm not going to make it in July," said Randall. "I know that I have my official visit set for September 18th."

In the meantime, the nations' 11th rated quarterback took in a camp at the University of Florida.

"It was alright, it was fun. I hung around with Urban Myers and everything. It was fun."

For the Oregon Ducks, quarterbacks are mentored by offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich with plenty of input from head coach Chip Kelly. Randall gave Duck Sports Authority his thoughts on the Duck staff he has been in contact with.

"Chip Kelly is a real nice guy," Randall assessed. "It seems like he's smooth and I like him a lot. He's got a good personality and a great coach. I hope that this commitment is a great one."

The four-star prospect gave his evaluations of Helfrich and the other coach involved in his recruitment, wide receivers coach Scott Frost.
