Fuller set for Tech's junior day
Wylie (Texas) offensive tackle Kyle Fuller has seen some early attention from programs both near and far. The 2012 standout is scheduled to be in Lubbock next week for a Texas Tech junior day.
"I believe I'm going to be headed up there for Tech's junior day on the 26th," he said. "I've been trying to narrow it down between this weekend or the next, and I think we've settled on the 26th. I'm looking forward to getting there and just hopefully getting to spend some one-on-one time with the staff."
Aside from Tech, Fuller says that he's been hearing from Kansas and Wake Forest recently. Beyond Tech's upcoming junior day, he's yet to schedule any others.
He mentioned a familiarity with the Red Raiders as a reason for his upcoming visit.
"Texas Tech is definitely the team I've followed the closest. My older brother goes there and I'm familiar with the university," Fuller said. "I want to get into veterinary science, so I know that's something that would be available to me at Tech. I really like their offense, too. I've always liked their offense, of course, but I was a big fan of the direction they went in last year under Coach Brown and Coach Tuberville, too."
The 6-foot-5, 256-pounder has been in contact with assistant coaches Matt Moore, Sonny Cumbie, and Sam McElroy. The frequent communication has allowed them to establish a solid relationship early on.
"Coach Moore, Coach Cumbie, and Coach McElroy are the guys that I've talked to the most up there. I've got a good relationship with them and we talk pretty regularly," he said. "They seem like down to earth guys. I liked that about them. It's pretty easy to see when a coach is putting on a show or not. I haven't gotten that from the coaches at Tech."
Fuller currently holds offers from Iowa State, Kansas, New Mexico, Texas Tech, and Wake Forest. He indicated that he doesn't expect to make a decision until close to National Signing Day next year.
