Myles might decide to stay home

Gabe Myles grew up in Starkville, Miss., watching his father's alma mater Mississippi State play.

The three-star athlete led Starkville High School to the Class 5A State Championship game as a junior and earned a scholarship offer from his hometown Bulldogs in the process.

"It meant a lot," Myles said. "It was my first scholarship offer and being that it was from a team that I'd grown up watching them play. I just had that feeling of I want to play there. It was a special feeling."

Myles' father, Eddie, was a four-year letter winner at MSU from 1987-90 but has not pressured his son to follow in his footsteps.

"He hasn't said too much about it," Myles said. "He wants me to make my own decision and make the decision that is best for me. He doesn't want to influence my decision where I go to school. He wants me to be happy there so wherever I choose he'll be happy with it."

Many high schoolers cannot wait to get away from home and attend college elsewhere. But Myles stated that he might not mind sticking around Starkville for the next few years.
