Florida speedster likes Ducks

Although the Oregon Ducks are in the middle of recruiting for the class of 2009, that doesn't mean that haven't looked ahead to 2010. Ethan Grant, a fast, dynamic running back/defensive back from North Broward Prep, Coconut Creek, Florida, is one national recruit who is already showing the Ducks a lot of interest. Duck Sports Authority caught up with him recently to get to know him.

One of the first things that pops out about Grant is his speed. He also has fairly good strength for his size. "I have been timed four times in the 40. It has been as low as 4.19. I was the state champion in the 300 intermediate hurdles. I ran a 36.74. I also run the 110 hurdles. My best time was 14.32. I am benching 195, and squatting 305," Ethan told us.

Grant and wide receiver Ted Meline, whom the Ducks have also offered, are part of a fast and potent offensive combo for North Broward that has propelled them into the state playoffs. North Broward's success has also precipitated some changes in Grant's schedule. "We play at the 2-A level. I won't be playing in the next two games because they are saving me for the playoffs. I will be just working out."
