2010 Pittsburgh OL listing BC
Every year western Pennsylvania is a hotbed for high school football talent and one of the region's best from the Class of 2010 thinks highly of the Eagles. Pittsburgh (Pa.) Fox Chapel Area lineman Miles Dieffenbach currently holds one major offer and more will undoubtedly come in before too long.
At 6-foot-5 and 271-pounds, Dieffenbach certainly looks the part of someone that can be dominant in the trenches. His play for Fox Chapel Area has earned him a reputation as one of the area's most promising young stars.
Dieffenbach helped lead his squad to the state playoffs for the first time in several years this fall.
"I definitely wanted to focus on finishing my blocks this year," he explained. "When I pancaked a kid and he tried to get up I wouldn't let him. I'd just push him back on the ground until they blew the whistle.
"I really focused on pass protection, too. I didn't give up one sack this season. I didn't make as many mental errors and there weren't many missed assignments. I did a good job of helping to give the quarterback as much time as he needed."
Dieffenbach is sitting on an offer from Pitt, and he said several schools may not be far from extending offers as well.
Boston College is one of the schools in hot pursuit of the Pittsburgh prospect. What does he think of the Eagles?
"A coach from Boston College came to our school a couple of weeks ago, actually. I think it was their running backs coach but I'm not quite sure. We had sent my film out to them.
"I definitely like Boston College a lot. I'd say they've probably been sending me more mail than anybody up to this point.
"I've been to Boston about four times and my dad has run in the Boston marathon. I've been to Red Sox games and I've been around town. I love the atmosphere and the sports in the city. The people are nice and the campus is amazing -- just beautiful. They have great academics as well."
Dieffenbach has unofficially visited several schools so far and said he would like to take a trip to BC at some point in the coming months.
"That's definitely one place I want to visit," he said. "I also want to go to Notre Dame. Notre Dame and BC are the two schools I'd really like to get out to soon. All my family has been out to Boston and we just love it."
