Johnathan Franklin more than just speed

One of the highlights of Saturday's scrimmage was the running display put on by Johnathan Franklin. Everyone knew that Franklin has speed. After all you don't get the nickname of "Jet Ski" by being a block of cement, but what may have surprised some was how hard the Bruin redshirt freshman ran.

Franklin showed on Saturday his vision, cutting ability and how he finishes off runs. BruinBlitz.com talked to Franklin after a recent practice to catch up and find out how he felt about his scrimmage performance.

BruinBlitz.com: You haven't surprised this spring or on Saturday, but do you think that you surprised anybody else?

Franklin: "Yeah, there were a lot of doubters, I know that. There are a couple of people that don't really expect a lot out of me. So I think I surprised a lot of people."

BruinBlitz.com: Why do you think that people doubt you when they have never seen you play?

Franklin: "Yeah, they have never seen me play. Maybe coming from the city, I guess. I played scout team last year, redshirted and they really don't know my talent or know what I can bring to the table."

BruinBlitz.com: But you were the MVP of the scout team…

Franklin: "Some people just might overlook that. It's okay; you'll always have doubters out there, regardless of what you do."
