Sooners Dive Deeper into California
It's been well-documented that in the search for quality defensive tackles in the Western half of the country has been difficult for more than one school. With that idea in mind it's no wonder that Jackie Shipp left his normal recruiting turf to have a look at Chino (Calif.) Don Lugo.
When the long-time Sooner assistant showed up to visit the 6-foot-4, 280-pound run-stuffer earlier this week, it caught the big defensive tackle off guard and in spite of offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, and Oregon he was surprised by the news from his coach following Shipp's visit.
"Coach Shipp came out and saw me yesterday and I was having lunch in my coach's room and (Shipp) came in there. He couldn't really say anything. My coach told me he just came to see me and then he wanted to watch some film," Uko said.
"As I was going to lift for football my coach said I needed to call him and so I did and he told me they were going to offer me."
