Uko taking his time

George Uko might be the biggest recruit on Oregon's board this year, and one of the most important. The 6' 4", 300lb. defensive tackle is equally adept at stuffing the run and getting up field and wreaking havoc with an opponents passing game.

Last year he had 89 tackles and five sacks on defense while being double-teamed most of the time. Offensively his team used his athleticism and put him at tight end where he was a devastating blocker and also hauled in a pas for a touchdown.

Uko doesn't have a list yet and says he's just trying to learn as much as he can about every program that's offering him. With all of his offers, that might take awhile. Oklahoma is the latest but count Nebraska, Colorado, Tennessee and both Arizona schools in the mix along with Oregon. Defensive tackle is obviously a big area of need for the Ducks. Uko had a tremendous showing at the Nike camp in Los Angeles recently and he says he'll be at both UCLA and USC's camps this summer.

"I like Oregon though. Coach Osborne is recruiting me and he's coming by my school on Tuesday. They're also recruiting one of my friends who is one of my teammates. He has family up there and went up for a game last year. He said everyone up there is just crazy for Oregon football. He came back and told me how the town and the state are so supportive. How at Oregon the fans are football crazy and you jut have to see it. Maybe it's because there's no NFL team nearby but I hear they just kind of shut the town down on game days and it's all about the team so I'd like to experience that." said Uko.
