Ayers opens up about recruiting

South Paulding cornerback Ryan Ayers has offers from almost every elite school in the southern half of the United States, but the soft-spoken athlete is keeping quiet about who is in the lead to get his services in 2010. Jacketsonline caught up with Ayers to find out about his summer plans and how he feels about the recruiting process in general.

What schools have recently offered you?

Recently, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, and South Carolina have offered scholarships.

Where are you planning on camping?

I am still going to camp at Alabama because I was sick that day last year and I want to go back and do better. Later I might to decide to go to another camp. I have not decided where yet.
What schools are you going to be visiting in the next few weeks?

My coach and I are going to Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Alabama and Auburn. We will take some time off between visits.
What schools have set coaches that you have seen at your practices this spring?

The only schools I remember seeing are Alabama and Georgia Tech. Tennessee came here, but I was not out there that day because I was in class tutoring.
It seems like you do not like the process of recruiting. Is that the case or do you not like getting a bunch of attention?

I do not want to let it all get to me.
Has any coach who has been recruiting you stood out above the others?

I talk to coach Brian Bohannon at Georgia Tech a lot. I like them. Georgia Tech is close to home.
Is staying close to home important to you?
Yes it is. I think I will stay close to home.
What is your timeline and will you take all your official visits?

I don't know. I cannot decide right now. It will happen [verbally committing], whenever it feels right. I am going to make an attempt to see what every school has to offer, but I am not going to just visit one school and tell the others I don't want to be there.
Do you look at any of the recruiting sites and read any of the information about you?

Yeah. I was looking at something that said I don't jam well and that I need to improve my jamming. It kind of made me mad. I love jamming and I am very physical. I do not know why that is on there.
