Uko sets up official to Oregon
Oregon defensive line coach Jerry Azzinaro has some slots to fill for the 2010 recruiting class. George Uko is one of the top interior linemen to camp in Eugene this year, and Azzinaro liked what he saw. Rumors have circulated that Uko may have closed in on a decision.
"I don't have any leaders right now, just the same top 5 I've had for awhile. In the last couple days though I just set up an official visit for Oregon in September. I'm pretty sure it's the 24th or something for the Cal game, but I'd have to check." said defensive tackle George Uko." That statement from Uko suggests the rumor that he's about to commit to USC may be premature. Along with Oregon, his other finalists are USC, Cal, Tennessee and Oklahoma.
Uko of course, visited Oregon and attended the Oregon Coaches' Half-Day camp earlier this year along with his high school teammate Steven Bethley and both of their fathers. It's a trip that went well and gave Uko a chance to interact directly with the Oregon coaches. Since then, he's attended UCLA's camp and the USC Rising Stars camp as well. Obviously, Uko has it right as the Ducks do in fact play Cal September 26th at Autzen.
The USC camp and a subsequent interview with Uko's father fueled the belief that Uko was ready to become a Trojan. Uko's father stated in the article that he likes the idea of his son going to USC for football and for the academic side as well.
