Adidas Superstar Showcase- Saturday

BOCA RATON, Fla.- Saturday afternoon on the campus of Lynn University, several of South Florida's top prospects hit the floor for the Adidas Superstar Showcase. In it's second year of existence, the event is run by Florida Rams program director Matt Ramker. With juniors and seniors taking the floor, the guy with the biggest impact was the biggest player in attendance, massive 2012 big man Joell James.

Saturday's top performers

Joell James, C- Currently a Rivals150 member and three-star prospect in the class of 2012, James is due for a bump when rankings and stars get updated. A rugged, near 6-foot-10 lefty with legit back to the basket game, he dominated in the low post when fed the ball. He's got great hands, is a very good shooter on eight to 12 foot jumpers and has loads of upside. He mentioned offers from South Carolina, Central Florida, UMass and Miami to go along with attention from Louisville, Florida, Florida State, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Penn State and more.

Staphon Blair, PF- The 6-foot-7 Blair is a high energy class of 2012 big man who currently ranks #120 in the Rivals150. He runs the floor hard in search of dunks, rebounds in and out of his area and plays with tremendous effort. Skill-wise, he's a little rough around the edges but he's got time to iron out his overall offensive game. He's already got interest from the likes of Missouri, Georgetown, Ohio State, Syracuse, Texas, Alabama, Miami and more.

Tim Dixon, PF- The future Georgia Bulldog is playing his senior season for Ryan Panone at Oldsmar Christian and had a nice day on Saturday. A very skinny kid who can run the floor and make things happen around the rim with his length and lift, he blocked plenty of shots and got on the glass. When he's aggressive, good things happen but he tends to float to the perimeter a little too much.

Ismaila Dauda, C- The future Miami Hurricane backed up his four-star status in the class of 2012. A long 6-foot-9 shot blocker, he runs the floor, handles the boards and is showing promise on the offensive end. He's got a nice little baseline jumper that features a high release and plenty of rotation.

Cleon Roberts, SG- Another Rivals150 member from the class of 2012, the six-foot-four two guard is an intriguing guy. A streak jump shooter with length and a live body, he was able to impose his will on the offensive end whenever he decided to get aggressive. He mentioned offers from South Carolina and Georgia Southern to go along with interest from Louisville, Western Kentucky, Alabama and Miami. According to Roberts, all of those programs have been in to see him this fall.

Malik Price-Martin, PF- A member of the class of 2013, the four-star four man got himself a few runs with the older guys on Saturday. He's quite skinny but very mobile and has a lot of fluidity to his game. He catches everything, finishes with either hand around the rim and has some face-up to his game. He's got to be careful not to fall in love with hunting mid to deep range jumpers. He's got offers from Ohio State, South Carolina, Miami and Georgia Southern to go along with interest from Kansas State, Clemson, Florida and Florida State.

Jordan Montgomery, SG- A solid do-it-all wing from Orlando (Fla.) Christian Prep, the six-foot-four junior was making lots of plays on Saturday. He will get to the rim, defends, has a solid frame and makes some jumpers. A fine athlete, he managed to stand out in a camp setting without jacking a ton of shots. He mentioned that Penn State, UAB and Colgate have been in to see him.

Jeff Coby, PF/SF- A junior at Weston (Fla.) Sagemont, the slender six-foot-six combo forward was one of the day's most pleasant finds. He's long, athletic, has skill and plays very hard. Changes ends swiftly, will defend, has room to fill out his frame and big time grades. Yale, Columbia, Harvard, Brown, Princeton and Santa Clara have all expressed early interest.

More Saturday notables

He'll likely be available this winter so senior point guard Terral Merritt is worth a look for low to mid majors looking for a point guard. Plays hard, plays smart and has a solid frame. … A 6-foot-5 junior wing at Orlando (Fla.) Olympia, Derek Reese is a ball-handling wing with some game. Will attack right or left and makes plays for himself and others. … One of the harder working guys in camp was 6-foot-8 senior power forward Kai Deans from Opa Locka (Fla.) Pace. He's tough in the lane, plays hard, rebounds and has some offense. With a good senior year he'll end up somewhere on the division one level. … His game is all about getting to the rim and 6-foot-4 senior wing Adonis Burbage has an extra gear to get there. Like his ability to defend multiple positions across the perimeter. … Not quite sure what level he projects to, but nobody in camp played harder than 6-foot-5 Shavanno Cooper. He's a junior at Oakland Park (Fla.) Florida Prep. … As the day wore on, 6-foot-3 shooting guard Terrell Harris steadily had more impact on the action. He's got a nice wing frame, can shoot and makes smart plays off of the bounce. He's a senior at Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Dwyer with some potential. …

Perhaps the best shooter in the building was 6-foot-5 small forward Brian Pegg. A junior at Oldsmar Christian, he's got a quick trigger, compact stroke and deep range. He's in the middle of a growth spurt and could develop into a highly skilled face-up four man as he adds size. … He's a bit of a three/four tweener, but 6-foot-5 Kris Rolle was very active. A senior at Opa Locka (Fla.) Pace, he's going to be monitored closely by some division one programs as a senior. … He'll hit the floor again on Sunday to play with the younger guys, but 8th grader Kamil Williams from Boca Raton (Fla.) Grandview Prep was quite impressive against the older guys. A 5-foot-10 point guard with poise, pace and a terrific jumper, he looked very comfortable. … Finally, 6-foot-2 combo guard Gabe Dos Santos is very intriguing. A high flying athlete with a tremendous first step, the senior at Coral Springs (Fla.) High is a bit wild and can get out of control. However, he plays hard and has some tools at his disposal. …
