DaMarcus Smith is a Knight
DaMarcus Smith has just announced his decision to attend UCF over Louisville. The suspense is over. Four-star quarterback
Smith made the announcement on Friday shortly after 1:30 p.m. at Seneca High School, spurning the hometown Cardinals where he had been committed for more than a year.
"I love the University of Louisville, all the fans and the passion, but for the next four years I'll be with the University of Central Florida," Smith said at his press conference, which was posted on Twitter by Jody Demling of the Louisville Courier-Journal.
UCF confirmed receipt of his LOI at 1:56 p.m. which makes him the 30th member of the 2011 recruiting class (six enrolled in January).
Smith is the second four-star since National Signing Day to announce for the Knights, following the lead of Denver (Colo.) Mullen linebacker Leilon Willingham who signed on Thursday. Including spring enrollee Toby Jackson, UCF now has three four-star prospects in their 2011 recruiting class.
Smith said he plans to enroll at UCF on May 12 in time for the first session of summer school. It's a big get for the program considering the Knights only had two quarterbacks currently on the team (Jeffrey Godfrey and Blake Bortles).
UCF entered the day with the No. 43 recruiting class according to Rivals.com, a number which could now go up with the addition of Smith.
