NUC heads to Miami
2009 National Underclassmen Combine informationMORE:
Following a successful first two events in Phoenix and Las Vegas, the National Underclassmen Combine will kick off their Southeast events in Miami at Ransom Everglades School. The combine will take place for 8th-10th graders Saturday February 21 and 11th graders Sunday February 22. The 2008 combine hosted an impressive group of athletes, many whom are expected to return.
As a sophomore in 2008, all world defensive player Gideon Ajagbe from Coconut Grove (FL) Ransom Everglades left his mark on the testing portion. His 35-inch vertical jump and 10-foot broad paved the way for an outstanding performance. The 6-foot-2 outlside linebacker already has offers from almost every big time program in the SEC.
Miami traditionally one of the greatest recruiting hotbeds in the USA, will showcase another speedster in the tradition of the NUC.
Sophomore Tacoi Sumler, of Homestead (FL) High dominated the event last year as a freshman setting the NUC freshman 40-yard dash record in 4.33 en route to his Freshman MVP. Tacoi is expecting to blaze his way to an amazing performance.
"Tacoi and Gideon represent what we are looking for at the NUC, top prospects at the highest level and amazing character. They are great people first and D-1 athletes second and I love their enthusiasm and attitude, oh and of course their ability!" said NUC president and CEO Dave Schuman.
The tradition of NUC superstars will continue as in 2008 the amazing Todd Chandler of Miami (FL) Northwestern (over 30 D-1 offers), Ricardo Dixon 2007 MVP and heading to USF, and Daniel Mack heading to Wake Forest among dozens of other stars that have come through the NUC in South Florida.
With huge potential exposure at the 2009 Miami combine, expect the incoming group of athletes to put fast times and great football skills along the beaches of South Florida.
