Burton: UCLA 'was the best decision for me'

Brandon Burton was supposed to release a UCLA commitment Bleacher Report video back at the Under Armour game in early January. Yet when the annual Jim Mora-to-the-NFL rumors kicked up, the four-star athlete decided to hold off.

Days later, the Serra star’s childhood dream school, USC, re-offered, and things got even more interesting.

The Bruins, though, led by Demetrice Martin, never stopped pursuing Burton. And on Tuesday, the night before National Signing Day, Burton rewarded Martin and UCLA for their doggedness.

“UCLA has just always been consistently after me since my freshman year,” Burton said on ESPN’s SportsCenter. “I built a great relationship with coach (Jim) Mora, coach Meat and coach (Eric) Yarber and you know we just built on it from there. I just decided that was the best decision for me.”

Burton’s final list included UCLA, USC, Arizona and Florida State. He finished the Rivals.com rankings as the No. 112 player in the nation and No. 4 athlete overall.
