Free Preview: Bruin Legacy Trey Brown, III

One of the greatest Bruin running backs of all time Theotis “Big Foot” Brown has a very talented son who could end being one of the top three recruits in Kansas for the recruiting season of 2002.
The name of this legacy recruit is Trey Brown III and he plays his football at Blue Valley (Kan.) Northwest. Though Trey is isn’t as big as his Dad, standing 5-11, 186 pounds, he plays big. One thing that the younger Brown has with his Dad is awesome speed. Brown runs a legit 4.48 40-yard dash.

Brown was selected 1st-team all-area and all-conference as a DB as sophomore. As junior, this standout athlete was a 1st-team all-area and all-conference on both sides of the ball, once again as a corner on defense and on offense as a wide receiver.
As a pure cover corner, Brown is a blanket, picking off seven passes his sophomore year. Opposing teams were wise to Brown his junior season and they rarely challenged him, but he still picked off five passes. He’s also very physical and an awesome hitter as he forced two fumbles. Not bad for a cornerback.
On offense, Brown caught 25 passes for approximately 475 yards while averaging 19 yards per catch and he scored three touchdowns through the air. He also lined up at running back and he scored 5 touchdowns on the ground.
Brown probably projects as corner where some lucky school will be able to take advantage of his blanket coverage skills and his overall physical way of playing the position. Wide receiver is not out of the question.
“I love UCLA, I’ve been a fan ever since I was little,” Brown said. “I’m pretty open at this time regarding colleges and will weigh all my options.”
Of course UCLA is very much in the recruiting picture for this talented young man. The Bruins will get competition from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas, K State and Illinois; all of these colleges have been by the school so far this May…
