Free report: Carson athlete likes Bruins

One of the more impressive members of the City Champion Carson Colts that BruinBlitz spoke with when we were on campus was running back/defensive back Dwayne Sanders. This quiet – yet – self-assured young man is not only next year's starter at halfback , but is currently awaiting his foray into the CIF state track and field championships June 5th in Sacramento, after finishing second in the city section finals with a 21.8 mark in the long jump.
Sanders is just under 6-foot and weighs 165. He runs a 4.4 forty, benches 205, squats 335 and power cleans at 165.

As one part of a trio of talented running backs for Carson, Sanders ran for 700 yards and scored 9 touchdowns.
His best football memory? “As a team, winning the championship,” Sanders said. “Individually, scoring three touchdowns against Narbonne last year was a personal best.”
Sanders is getting steady recruiting action, having heard from every school in the Pac 10, in addition to Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico State, Yale, Brown, Princeton and Harvard.
“Cal, Michigan, Nevada and Arizona are recruiting me the hardest," Sanders said. His favorites at present are Michigan, Cal, Arizona, Nevada, and UCLA.
Sanders has liked Cal since childhood, yet says he also likes Nevada's offense. He says is in no hurry to choose a school and wants to focus on the upcoming season, performing well on the field and maintaining his current GPA of 3.0.
Because of his track commitments, Sanders will take the SAT in early September.
"Dwayne is a workhorse, a diligent and talented kid who comes to play,” Carson coach John Aguirre said. “He is versatile at running back or cornerback, even wide receiver.
“Dwayne is extremely fast, quick, and just explodes off the ball,” Aguirre said. “We expect him to be a force this next year.”
Dwayne's goal this season? “I'm challenging myself to improve on 2003 and help my team win another championship.”
