Free Report: Shannon Tevaga getting ready

There is no question that if the Bruins are going to be successful on the gridiron in 2004 they will need to press into action true frosh offensive linemen. That is a tall order because it is always best to sit freshman at any position, but especially in on the offensive trench. One freshman who will be penciled in to help right away will be Shannon Tevaga (6-3, 300, 5.0) from La Mirada, Calif.
“I’ve been lifting and running at Cerritos College,” Tevaga said. “With the conditioning program that UCLA gave me.”

It must be working because the incoming freshman is benching over 400 pounds. That’s quite a lift for anyone but it’s very impressive for an incoming freshman.”
“I’m expecting to come in and play as a true freshman,” Tevaga said. “I will do my best to be ready.”
There was a rumor circulating earlier this summer that Tevaga wasn’t going to qualify and that his eligibility was in question but according to Tevaga there is nothing to it.
“Don’t listen to rumors,” Tevaga said. “I don’t know where that came from but it’s not true.”
Why did Tevaga chose UCLA?
“I chose UCLA because I like the campus, the coaches and the players,” Tevaga said. “It will be a good place to go to school.”
Is there anything you will like to say to UCLA fans?
“Be ready for a good year,” Tevaga said. “ We will be a lot better on offense.”
In an earlier interview Tevega’s high school coach John Mele, he this to say about his talented offensive lineman, “Shannon is a very athletic big man. I have had a lot of good linemen here. Sam Adams who went to Texas and Vince Feula who is at Arizona and Shannon is the best that I’ve had.”
“Shannon is a very smart football player who could call the blocking schemes at the line if I let him,” Mele said. “The only reason he doesn’t is I give that responsibility o my center.”
Tevaga is a member of the Rivals.com Super West 60 team and is considered as the western region’s number 37 prospect at any position. He is also a member of Rivals.com California Top 100 team in 2004, landing as the Golden State’s number 27 prospect.
