Free Report: UCLA has eyes north of the border

The Bruin staff leaves no stone unturned when it comes to evaluating and searching for talent. The UCLA is even searching across the northern border and is taking a look at one of the best running backs in Canada.
The running back that has caught the eye of the Bruin staff is Calvin McCarty (5-11, 200, 4.4) from Burnaby (B.C.) Saint Thomas More Collegiate.

McCarty is a powerfully built young man who is working out with the Oklahoma State strength and conditioning coach Enith Hancock. Hancock now has the same position with UAB. McCarty benches 270 pounds, squats 410 and cleans 225. He also recorded a good 31-inch vertical and has been timed in the shuttle at 4.22.
McCarty has been the rave up north ever since his grade nine year (freshman) when he led the province in touchdowns. He followed up that performance being the first grade ten (sophomore) player to ever be named the Province Bowl MVP.
This talented running back is currently tied for the Province record for career touchdowns and he still has one more season to go.
McCarty is a power back with speed. He is also very smooth and can cut on a dime. He’s the type of back who can lower his shoulder and get you the tough yard inside and the speed to go house hunting.
Believe it or not, McCarty played behind Kansas bound John Cornish, and still he rushed for over 900 yards and scored 23 touchdowns, while setting a school record for average yard per carry with a 17.2 average. McCarty is also a threat catching the ball as he led his team in receiving yards. He will also help a team returning punts and returned four for touchdowns. His career long is an 80-yarder.
The Bruins aren’t the only team in the secret from Canada. ASU, Oregon, Washington State, Utah and Utah State are also aware of McCarty. McCarty is even getting letters from SEC schools, Tennessee and South Carolina.
McCarty will be attending the Nike Camp held in Eugene next week (June 8th) and undoubtedly more schools will hear about McCarty.
The thing that impresses BruinBlitz is how thorough the Bruins are in their research for talent. If there is a player with skills, chances are your UCLA staff knows about them and is doing the work necessary to find out if that player can play at the UCLA level.
Bob Toledo and staff are organized and outstanding talent evaluators.
