Free Report: Joe Cowan ready for the call

The unexpected departure of senior wide receiver Tab Perry will give other wide receivers a chance to step. The talented and reliable Craig Bragg will be a fixture at one wide out and Junior Taylor will get a long look for the other spot as will other players. It seems the philosophy of this UCLA staff is if you’re ready to play, you will play. That means incoming freshman Joe Cowan (6-4, 195, 4.43) from Bellflower (Calif.) Saint John Bosco will also get a look.
Anyone who saw Cowan in the recently played Private Vs Public Shrine All-Star game was impressed. Cowan was named Private School MVP for his performance.

If Cowan is mentally and physically ready, he will get an opportunity to play this season.
Cowan like many of the incoming freshmen are working out with new strength and conditioning coach Doc Kreis in the wee small hours of the morning.
The good Doctor starts his workouts at 6:00am in the morning. You have to be a very motivated player to make it to Doc’s workouts and you better be willing to work.
“I have been going to some of the morning workouts,” Cowan said. “I’ve been doing a lot running, too.”
“I wasn’t expecting to play as a freshman,” Cowan said. “But I wanted too and I am working hard to get myself ready for the opportunity.”
“It feels good to be a Bruin,” Cowan said. “Just going over for practice is great. Everyone is very welcoming.”
“I can’t wait until practice starts,” Cowan said. “I really want to get out there.”
“I was thinking about the opening game just the other day,” Cowan said. “The whole atmosphere of college football, I saw myself looking up to the crowd. It made me want to play.”
Cowan may get his opportunity sooner than later. Whenever Cowan starts getting minutes rest assured the Bruins landed a talent who will make his presence known and an impact felt before his Bruin career is over.
Just a reminder Cowan chose the Bruins over other offers from Washington, Oregon State, Wyoming and Colorado State.
This is what BruinBlitz had to say about the talented Mr. Cowan in our LOI wrap-up:
Joe Cowan WR 6-4, 185 Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco
Cowan has tremendous upsides and has drawn comparisons as a faster Danny Farmer. Cowan could also play defensive back if needed. He possesses an outstanding set hands that he used to grab 41 passes for 698 yards and ten touchdowns as a senior. On the defensive side of the ball, Cowan accounted for 68 tackles and five picks.
