Jim Mora said after a spring practice last April that UCLA was going after grad transfer O-linemen. This week, we learned one of those targets was apparently Miami tackle Sunny Odogwu.

The 6-foot-8, 325-pound offensive lineman tweeted Friday he visited with Mora in Los Angeles and had a great trip.

Odogwu, who also visited Michigan earlier this week and is reportedly also looking at Mississippi State and others, started four games for the Hurricanes as a redshirt junior last season before suffering a season-ending ankle injury. As a redshirt sophomore, he started two games, and as a redshirt freshman, he played in nine.

Last month, Miami coach Mark Richt announced in a statement Odogwu would head elsewhere for his senior season.

“Sunny and I had a good conversation, and he informed me that he feels his best opportunity to get the most playing time would be at another school,” Richt said in a statement released by the school. “Sunny has been a great teammate and leader for this program, and we will miss him.”

UCLA is wafer thin at the O-line position for 2017. While the starting five appears to be set with Kolton Miller, Andre James, Scott Quessenberry, Najee Toran and Kenny Lacy performing well in the spring, it's not even clear who the No. 1 backup would be for this five at the moment, especially at the tackle position.
