Cassius Peat back 'at home' with the Bruins

Cassius Peat flipped from UCLA to Michigan State back in 2015. Now, he's back with the Bruins.

Cassius Peat was a long-time UCLA commitment back in 2014. On Signing Day in February 2015, however, he flipped to Michigan State.

Most in Westwood thought that would be the last they heard of the three-star prospect from Tempe (Ariz.) Corona Del Sol.

But on Sunday, a day after Peat soaked in the Stanford-UCLA game at the Rose Bowl as a 2017 junior college prospect, the Bruins are preparing to have him on their roster once again.

Peat, the brother of New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Andrus Peat, said in a text message to BruinSportsReport.com that he committed to UCLA on Sunday afternoon, just weeks after leaving Michigan State for Pima Community College in Arizona.

"UCLA game was legit, felt like home," he said.

Peat attended Michigan State for a full year and ended up in the two-deep at defensive tackle this past August. When he decided to transfer and got his release from the Spartans, Peat said he was actually looking into joining the Bruins this season.

"They were trying to get me in right after I got my release but my classes didn't transfer so I'm at JC until March," Peat said.

The former high school outside linebacker is now up to 6 feet 3, 275 pounds and said he's looking to play "all four" positions along UCLA's defensive line when he gets to campus in the spring.

"Extremely humble and grateful Los Angeles will be my home for the next 3-4 years," Peat tweeted late Sunday afternoon. "Had so much fun this weekend #UCLA."
