First scrimmage in the books
It was clear once again the defense is ahead at this stage of the game, but it also obvious that once the offense overcame their sluggish start that they have the playmakers to be quite good once they start to hum.
Kevin Prince was solid and will only improve from here on out. He was 8-9 for 84 yards and two touchdowns of 32 and 10 yards.

Prince hit Nelson Rosario in the sweet spot between defenders and he raced around 15 more yards for the score. Rosario ended up with three catches for 42 yards including his touchdown.
For his other score he hit Joseph Fauria for his 10 yard score. Faura is someone who could end up getting the nickname Mr. Red Zone because he could become deadly down there and end up opening things up for the whole offense when the field becomes tight. Fauria's one catch was for pay dirt.
Richard Brehaut was 3-11 for 21 yards, but he was the unfortunate recipient of a couple of drops. Nick Crissman was 3-6 for 16 yards, but he could have easily with luck been 5-6 with a whole lot more yards, but he had two drops/
Taylor Embree was also solid hauling in three receptions for 37 yards. Antwon Moutra had three catches as well for 12 yards. Morrell Presley has two receptions for 10 yards and Cory Harkey hauled in one catch for 11 yards.
The running attack was basically shut down by the defense except for Johnathan Franklin who had nine carries for 44 yards. He showcased the burst that earned him the starting job last season.
Derrick Coleman had 19 yards on eight carries and Milton Knox five carries for eight yards. Prince added 13 yards on five carries.
The defense looked sharp as there are playmakers and athletes all over the place.
All the defensive experiments seem to be bearing fruit, meaning based on today are appearing to be successful.
The coaching staff will find a spot on defense for Nate Chandler. He is going to be a player for UCLA. Donovan Carter is another experiment that looks that will pay off.
Speaking of experiments that will be paying off, those in attendance saw Glenn Love go off. His tape is going to look good and the coaches are going to be pleased. If he works out at Will, that will give the Bruins two playmakers at Will who are already on campus in Love and Sean Westgate.
The defensive backs were superb and were the reason that the Bruins were able to get a few coverage sacks on the day. In total the Bruins had seven sacks.
Defensive end Iuta Tepa led the team with two. Keenan Graham, Patrick Larimore, Datone Jones, and Jared Koster had one apiece, while David Carter and Love shared a sack.
Larimore was solid at Mike and may have taken a step ahead in the competition for that spot. Of course the coaches will have more on that once they see tape.
The defense as a whole looks good at most positions and will only get better when the 2010 players get on campus.
As always, Kai Forbath was money hitting on field goals from 26 and 42 yards respectfully. He was also 2-2 on PAT's. Not bad for a guy who hasn't had a lot work this spring. Forbath has earned the nickname of "Mr. Automatic".
