Five in Five: Most valuable Bruins in 2016

There are less than two weeks left until UCLA kicks off fall camp, so to finish our preview for this year's version of the UCLA Bruins, we'll take a look at the five most valuable Bruins in 2016.

-Five in Five: Incoming freshmen to watch

-Five in Five: Position battles to watch

-Five in Five: Bruins with the most to prove at camp

-Five in Five: Bruins with breakout potential

5. FABIAN MOREAU

UCLA has a lot of bodies at the cornerback position, but there hasn't been one who's stepped up and shown he can be a lockdown corner type like Moreau has shown in the past. Plus, the Bruins got a taste of what covering receivers would be like without Moreau when he went down with a foot injury last season.

Offensive lineman Kolton Miller and linebacker Jayon Brown both could have easily had this No. 5 slot as well.

4. TAKKARIST MCKINLEY

The defensive end would be a little higher on this list if it weren't for the depth UCLA has at defensive end this season. Guys like Keisean Lucier-South, Rick Wade and Deon Hollins are all capable of taking over if McKinley went down, so the senior gets the No. 4 slot here rather than the Nos. 2 or 3 spots.

But still, McKinley was the best Bruin on the field in spring camp, and he looks poised for a monster year. He could draw double teams that free up plenty of space on passing downs for Eddie Vanderdoes and Nick Terry on the insides and KLS or Hollins on the opposite side.

3. EDDIE VANDERDOES

There's some slight debate when it comes to Vanderdoes' value this season with Nick Terry's emergence and the hype surrounding Boss Tagaloa, but don't be fooled. This team against the run with Vanderdoes and against the run without him is drastically different. Vanderdoes could be the big key to finally stopping a good ground attack in 2016, and Jim Mora has already said if he has a good year, he expects Vanderdoes to be a first-round pick in the spring.

2. CONOR MCDERMOTT

UCLA really only has three tackles it can count on this season: McDermott, Kolton Miller and Andre James. McDermott, though, is the best of the bunch and a possible first-round pick in the spring. When healthy, he's been one of the two or three best O-linemen Adrian Klemm has had in his time in Westwood. The Bruins will need him to not only protect Josh Rosen, but also to pave the way for UCLA's new ground-and-pound running game.

1. JOSH ROSEN

As only a true sophomore, Rosen may just be the best quarterback in the country. He oozes upside, and there are too many experts to count who already have him penciled in as the top NFL Draft pick in 2017.

Plus, with the lack of depth at the QB position at UCLA, if he were to go down, any hopes of even an eight-win season in 2016 would likely be dashed.
