The player that Bruins are after is defensive lineman Alex Morrow (6-6, 260, 4.72) from Rohnert Park (Calif.) Rancho Cotate.
Defensive line is a position that the Bruins want to address this recruiting season.
This young man has unlimited potential. All you have to do is look at his size and speed to know that Morrow could turn into something special. Factor in his strength and you’ll be even more impressed.
Morrow benches 365 pounds, squats 450 and power cleans 320. Talk about explosion, Morrow recorded a 33.9 vertical jump for Rancho Cotate head coach Ed Conroy.
Morrow is a tremendous athlete who participates in track. Believe it or not this big guy ran the 100-meter for his track team and recorded an 11.9. That is moving for a 6-foot-6, 260-pounder. Morrow was also a part of the 4x100 and shot put.
Morrow will start both ways as a senior. He will line up on defense as a tackle and end. On the offensive side of the ball, Morrow will play tackle.
The scouting report on Morrow is he has great size, speed and overall athleticism. Again, he has unlimited potential.
Morrow racked up 55 tackles, six sacks and had approximately 15 tackles for loss. He had one fumble recovery in the championship game.
What is this young man looking for in a school?
“I am looking for a quality education, a quality football program and the location is also something I’m looking at,” Morrow said. “The quality education is important just in case football doesn’t work out. I also want to stay close to home, that’s why I want to play in the Pac10.”
UCLA, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Arizona, Stanford and USC are all even at this time according Morrow. He wants to take his time and research all seven schools.
The good news for Bruin fans is Morrow wants to stay close to home and play his football in the Pac10 conference.
Morrow has offers from USC, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington and Arizona.
And one more offer is expected from the Bruins this coming September.
Definitely a player to keep your eye on this recruiting season.
