Free Preview: Harris shined at camp

One of the many players BruinBlitz thought looked very good at the one-day Bruin camp on June 8th was wide receiver Michael Harris (6-2, 180, 4.5) from Covina (Calif.) Charter Oak.
Harris possessed outstanding athleticism and was very smooth running routes. To give you an idea of how athletic Harris is he was an all-league selection football, basketball and track.

Harris has improved his 40-time from 4.6 to 4.5 and he has proved by his track exploits how explosive he is. Harris has recorded a 6-foot-4-inch high jump, a 40-foot triple jump and 20-foot long jump.
On the gridiron, Harris caught 49 passes for 589 and four touchdowns as a junior. What makes his stats more impressive is the fact that Charter Oak likes to spread the ball around.
Charter Oak has a good reputation for sending their skill players to the D-I level. Jason David (WSU), David Boler (USC), Steve Stevenson (USC) and former Bruin walk-on to scholie player Joey Stycula.
In an earlier interview Charter Oak head coach Lou Farrar said, “We’ve had some pretty good wide receivers at our school and Mike rates with all of them.”
The scouting report on Harris is he plays with heart and he goes all out and leaves all on the field. “I may not be the biggest or the fastest, but play with heart,” Harris said.
“I learned some things and had some fun at the UCLA camp” Harris said.
“I was born and raised in Missouri,” Harris said. “So it wouldn’t be a big deal to go away from school. I am looking for a school I like. I want to check out and see how the academics rate at whatever school I end up going to.”
UCLA, UNLV, USC, Washington, Washington State and San Diego State are showing interest in Harris. Harris says there are no leaders and that he’s keeping his options open.
Harris is definitely one to keep on your radar screen.
