Free Preview: UCLA offers Virgina RB

The Bruins have had great fortune over the years recruiting Virginia athletes. From Kenny Easley to incoming freshman Justin London the Bruins have hit paydirt. London is expected to get plenty of snaps as a true freshman.
With water this good, it’s a good idea to go back to the well and get another bucket full, that’s exactly what the Bruins plan to do.

The Bruins have an offer out for running back Isaiah Gardner (5-11, 190, 4.37) from Virginia Beach (Va.) Salem.
The Bruins aren’t the only school enamored with the talents of Gardner, 16 other schools have also tendered an offer. UCLA is in competition with the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Northwestern, Notre Dame, NC State, UNC, Wake Forest, Clemson, Maryland, Georgia Tech, ECU, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech.
Gardner is hearing from but hasn’t received an offer from the three Florida schools (Miami, FSU and Florida).
Though Gardner is very open with his college choice, he has narrowed down the list a bit. Thankfully UCLA has made the cut. The Bruins are in the hunt for his services with Michigan, Michigan State, VT, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame and Tennessee.
Well that is pretty heady competition, but the good news is Gardner let BruinBlitz know that he will take one of is official visits to UCLA.
Gardner is originally from Detroit and he is up in Motown visiting his Dad.
“I definitely will be taking a trip out to UCLA,” Gardner said. “UCLA offered me a scholarship right before I came up here to Detroit and I didn’t have the time to talk to my coach about visiting there. I will probably visit before Christmas or after January.”
Gardner was selected all-area, all-region and all-league after rushing for 1,100 yards and 25 touchdowns. He is a tremendous threat catching the ball. Gardner had over 300 yards and two touchdowns receiving the ball.
The scouting report on Gardner is has terrific speed, is extremely explosive and flexible hips.
“I am looking for a school with a good football program and a school with great academics so I can get a good education,” Gardner said. “I also want to go to a school with a good coaching staff that I can relate to and be comfortable with.”
Gardner’s Dad is a Michigan grad while, his Mom graduated from Michigan State.
Will his Michigan and MSU ties enter into Gardner’s decision?
“No not at all,” Gardner said. “Both my parents just want me to be happy with my decision.”
UCLA is in on another national recruit and kudos must go out to the Bruin staff that seems to know who every blue chip recruit is no matter where the prospect resides.
This could be a very interesting recruiting season for Bruin fans. If the Bruins play up to their potential they will surprise the naysayers and once again the recruits will line up to wear blue and gold…
