Lee picks UCLA as a quarterback

Dymond Lee has been considered a UCLA lean since he landed his Bruin offer a few months ago. But most figured he would commit to the Bruins as a wideout, where he's rated a four-star by Rivals.com.

Yet the West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade athlete said UCLA told him Wednesday he'd have a shot to play quarterback if he committed. So the 6-foot-2, 170-pound Lee decided to pull the trigger on his pledge as a QB in the 2016 class.
"They told me that that's where they wanted me to come in," Lee said. "They had a vacancy at the position and said I was the guy for them."
Lee has been playing both wideout and quarterback for his Chaminade team this spring, excelling especially well at wide receiver at a recent 7-on-7 tournament. He said, however, that his primary position with Chaminade would be quarterback once the fall rolls around. And now, that's where he'd like to fit in at UCLA too.
"I have an opportunity to go play quarterback for a national strength," Lee said. "I'm just looking to win and it looks like all paths lead to success at UCLA. I'm happy to have committed."
Lee cited the proximity to home, the academics, the coaching staff and the UCLA talent as other reasons why he made the pledge Wednesday.
"They offered me everything I could want in a school," Lee said. "I'm a competitor on and off the field. Going there I will be surrounded with people pushing their limits both physically and mentally which will take me to new heights."
