UCLA has huge day on the recruiting trail

UCLA opened up the Wasserman Center with a bang Sunday.

Three of them, to be exact.

The Bruins, who had a soft opening of sorts of their new football facility this weekend, played host to around 50 recruits in order to celebrate that brand new building, and three of those targets ended up pledging to UCLA.

Santa Ana (Calif.) wide receiver C.J. Parks, Mission Viejo (Calif.) cornerback Olaijah Griffin and Quartz Hill (Calif.) linebacker Matthew Tago all announced their commitments on Twitter.

The surprise of the trio of pledges was easily Griffin. The Rivals100 cornerback had named USC his favorite back in January, and it looked like he was destined to be a Trojan when all was said and done. But apparently, UCLA, its new football building and its commitments were enough to push the Bruins past USC.

"Everything about it," Griffin told Rivals.com after his visit and pledge to UCLA. "I've been coming to this school since the 8th grade and they've always showed love. I feel like I'm at home."

Tago and Parks' pledges were far more unsurprising.

Parks had been a quiet UCLA lean for months, admitting to Rivals.com earlier this month that Demetrice Martin was like "family" for him.

Tago, meanwhile, camped at UCLA, and it was clear if USC -- his admitted dream school -- didn't make him a priority and didn't press for his pledge, the Bruins were likely going to be the pick. After a successful visit Sunday to UCLA, it might not even matter what USC does now.

The three pledges weren't the only news from Sunday's Wasserman Center opening. Check out some of the huge-name recruits in attendance who took in everything Westwood and the new facility had to offer:
