Ware makes it a family affair

Running back/athlete Aaron Ware (6-1, 190, 4.47) from Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian made it official. He accepted UCLA’s offer yesterday and he will continue the family Ware legacy of UCLA Bruins. Bruins fans are happy that that Ware followed in his parent’s and his brother Matt’s footsteps to continue is academic and athletic career at UCLA. Ware also had an offer from Duke. Ware’s commitment has been confirmed by Ware’s father, Bernard Ware.
“I can’t be happier,” Bernard Ware, Aaron’s father said. “If it was just a thing to follow the family I wouldn’t have been as happy. But since Aaron made an informed decision that is the reason that we are happy.”

Besides offers from UCLA and Duke, Ware was also hearing from the likes of Alabama, Michigan, Washington and Oregon.
In an earlier interview with Oaks Christian head coach Bill Redell he had this to say about his star athlete, “Aaron is fortunate that he has the ability to play running back or any of the four defensive back positions on the next level. As an athlete Aaron is in the Russell White category.”
Redell coached the former great Cal Bear running back Russell White in high school.
“Aaron has great speed and a good change of pace,” Redell said. “He can change direction and be at full speed after one step.”
Ware was timed in the 100 at 10.58 hand held when he was a freshman. He didn’t participate in track as a sophomore because he tore his hamstring.
For his career as a running back, Ware has rushed for approximately 4,600 yards and scored 55 touchdowns.
Look for Ware to see some action in the defensive backfield in 2004 as well as continue to tote the football for Oaks Christian.
